INDEPENDENCE DAY The verdant joy filled the atmosphere like an escaped gases released from a closed cylinder that has been kept for several years. Happiness engulfed the cloudy clime, as Nigerians were about to be freed from the shackles of the British. ANGELIC DEMON The society has become an hydra, multifaceted Mortals now exhibit paradoxical identity The firmament is now a universal mirror Reflecting contradictory images at dawn I peeped, I saw an extended metaphor of different figures, misrepresented like: "Ancient devil donning Jesus new garment Ailment physicians with infectious hands Aid hands now littered with thorny trees Builders gathering loose sand as castle Gatekeepers aiding & abetting sons of gun Hatchers consuming the public eggs Harbingers with devoid evangelism Market women pregnant of shadows Peppery winds from the mouth of kin Parasitic parent housing adopted children Pen instructors with stone-dead heads Planters planting poisonous parasols Reservoirs spewing through the loopholes Soul saviour serving sour salmon" Home is now an art gallery veiled by cobwebs But our brooms are too short to dust them off So ho

GANJA I have a dream: Of growing wider wings An angel praising our father Only thou art in heaven Till thy king's-doom come. Bobo, “pass me the lighter” Let me set my eyes ablaze Watch them burn to incense A moment in royal highness.
